A well selected rope is necessary for economical operations and will avoid damage of rope and maschine as well as standstill on site. The fundamental decision for the use of a non-rotating or not-rotation-resistant rope should be made at first.
The following rules should be observed:
Non-rotating hoisting ropes
should always be selected when:
- unguided loads are to be lifted on single line or
- unguided loads are to be lifted on multi-part-line reeving systems over great hoisting heights
Non-rotating rope constructions can work with and without swivel!
Not-rotation-resistant ropes
should always be selected when:
- guided loads are to be lifted or
- guided loads on multi-part-line reeving systems are to be lifted over short hoisting heights or
- unguided loads are lifted on paired systems with right- and left-hand-lay ropes
Not-rotation-resistant ropes must never be used with swivel!
